Lollipop Day!

Last friday ,all Ty and L.C.V.P students went into town to help collecting money for Lollipop Day.Lollipop Day is a fundraiser for Oesophageal cancer,a very worthy cause.

Each group of 3 or 4 students recieved a bucket with lollipops,stickers and badges.These were the buckets we brought around with us.

It was great to see the support the people gave in town,people were very generous and were interested in what we were collecting for.When people donated €2 or more they recieved a sticker and a lollipop or badge.

I was delighted to be able to help out with such a worthy cause and thanks for all the teachers who came with us on Friday and to Ms.L for organising the great day out.

Percussion Workshop!

On Tuesday,we had a percussion workshop for the morning in the music room.We played the jembes for most of the day and also got to try other instruments and other forms of drums.I really enjoyed playing the drums,in paticular the bass drums. It was great to learn how to play some songs on the drums,we played some rythms on our drums including 'The Woodpecker'.

I really enjoyed the day and playing the drums!Thanks to Dave for coming in and doing the workshop and also to Ms.L and the music department for orgainising the day.

Good News!

 

Today we found out who got through to the next round of the Mini Company Competition!There were 4 groups shortlisted from the school competition two weeks ago and luckily William's Words and the group I am part of,Hair Couture, got through to the Kildare finals.Congratulations to William's Words for also getting through :)

We were all delighted to get through,I am so happy all the group's hard work paid off with our book of hairstyles,'Hair Couture'.

We have to keep working hard now and hopefully we do well in the next round :) Well done to Stuzic and Cuppa Stuff too for being shortlisted,their ideas both were great!

Team Petrolic!

As part of Technology in TY,before Christmas all TY's had to enter the F1 in schools competition.When we entered this competition,in groups of 5 or 6 we had to do a 5 page plan on the computer about a f1 car.On this plan were things such as aerodynamics for the car and a design of a car.

Two groups from our year got through to the competition and luckily the team I was part of was one of these groups.Because our 5 page plan got through,the next step is to design a compressed air-powered racing car and send it off to be made so it can be raced in the regional final in March.Two members of the group are in the process of desiging the f1 car.

Leah,Ciara and I are at the moment promoting our car.By March we will have a portfolio of our car done and the racing car will also be designed and made so it can be raced in the competition.Hopefully we will do well in the F1 competition!
