Yesterday, all TY's went to Kildare Town for a mini pilgrimage.
We started off the day by travelling to Kildare Town to the Kildare Heritage Centre where we watched a video about St.Brigid and Kildare history.
We then looked at St.Brigid's flame outside the heritage centre and Mr.K told us a little bit about the flame. We looked at the round tower in Kildare town where we walked around it seven times and after this you are supposed to dream about the man you will marry that night!Unfourtanely this didnt happen!
After this,we went to St.Brigid's cathedral,it was a lovely builduing and a very interesting part of the day.We also went to see two of St.Brigid's well's and learnt a bit about that.
After visiting Kildare Town,we went to Whitewater for lunch and to K Bowl for the end of the day.I really enjoyed the day,I learnt alot about St.Brigid! Thanks to Ms.L.Mr.K,Ms.B and Ms.O'B for accompanying us on our trip!

Last Friday, the 8th of March, the F1 regional final took place in Griffith College. Two groups from TY went to the final 'Team Rapido Y Furioso' and the group I am part of 'Team Petrolic'.
When we arrived in Griffith College,we set up our display where we had posters on a backdrop and on a table we had our F1 car. We were one of the first groups to race our car and fourtanely Team Petrolic won their races against the opposition team! Well done to our driver Leah ;)
We then had the judging of our display and our portfolio. The judges came to our display table and spoke to us about 'Team Petrolic' and looked at our portfolio.
Before lunch,we presented our Powerpoint Presentation to the judges and they asked us a number of questions about our car and our sponsorship, etc.
After lunch we had the award ceremony. We were delighted to hear that Team Petrolic had got through to the National Final.Well done to Team Rapido y Furioso who also got through :)
I really enjoyed the day and can't wait for the National Final.

We arrived in the hotel at 9 am and straight away we started to set up our display for Hair Couture. We then looked around at the other great mini companies and then presented our mini company infront of the judges.
After lunch and the final mini company presentations, the awards started. There were awards for the Best Display,Best Innovation,Best Business Report,Highly Commended Mini Company,Runner Up and finally the Winner of the Kildare Final who were through to the National Final.
Unfortanely Hair Couture did not win an award but it was great to be at the Regional Finals and I learned alot from the Mini Company experience. Congratulations to the other group from TY,Williams Words who won the best display award for their fantastic display on the day. Well done to all the other Mini Companies and in paticular to 'Click and Light' who won the Kildare Finals and good luck to them in the National Final.

On Thrusday, all TY's travelled into town to Trinity College for a talk and exhibition by Intel called,'Cutting Edge Careers'.This exhibition was about careers in Science,Engineering and Technology and also in Intel!
When we arrived in Trinity College,we first were welcomed by some of the Intel Workers and we went into a room for 'speed dating'.This was where we went into a group of 4/5 and sat at a table where we were introduced to a lady who had a career in Intel(science and engineering). She told us about her job and spoke to us about science subject choices and subjects she did.
We were then introduced to two more women who also had a career in Intel. We were shown a video first and they then spoke to us about their job in Intel. Because in the future, especially for girls , there will be great employment oppurtunites in the areas of Science,Engineering and Technology, they told us about all the oppurtunites we will have in the future if we are interested in the career field of science and technology.
I found the day interesting and learned more about what kind of work is done and the different jobs in Intel! Thanks to Ms.B,Ms.H and Mr.C for accompanying us for the day :)
